Sally J. Broughton

Sally Broughton retired in 2011 after 32 years in the classroom.  Her last 22 years were in Montana at Monforton School teaching grades 6/7/8 social studies and language arts.  During that time her classes won many national awards for Project Citizen including first in the nation and also the Corporation for National and Community Service Award.  Sally was awarded  the American Civic Education Teacher Award in 2008 and Montana Teacher of the Year in 2009.  She is currently the Montana Project Citizen representative with the Center for Civic Education  and the Montana member of the Civic Mission of Schools Committee.  She is an active trainer for RESA4U.  She is experienced in civic education, Common Core Standards for Montana in ELA and Technical Subjects, gifted training, and media.

Mary Loewen Cavalier

Mary Cavalier moved to Montana four years ago, having retired from a rich and rewarding career in public education in other parts of our country.  She continues to be active as an educational consultant in the Montana schools.  In her long career in public education she has taught first grade through eighth grade, focusing her last years of teaching as a middle school math teacher.  She then moved into school leadership, serving as the principal of a large and diverse middle school for nine years. Under her leadership the school became nationally recognized as a place where all students were academically successful, and respected and valued as individuals.  Prior to moving to Montana, Mary worked as a school coach for a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping schools achieve rigorous standards for all students.

Mary is able to work with teachers in the following areas: the Common Core literacy standards, the Common Core mathematics standards, and in developing professional learning communities to build a culture of continuous growth and improvement.  In addition, Mary has done significant work in leadership development, helping school leaders build structures and climate that encourage all students to reach their highest potential.

Ron Laferriere

Ron has spent the last 35 years working with youth and adolescents with behavior challenges as a School Psychologist, Mental Health Worker and Special Education Administrator both in school settings and in residential treatment facilities. He currently holds a Masters in Arts of School Psychology and has over 1000 hours in various professional development activities related to school based mental health services for at-risk students and students with disabilities. Since 1982 Ron has been working as a School Psychologist at the Gallatin-Madison Special Education Cooperative and Bozeman Public Schools. Ron also brings many years of experience to the table as a certified Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Trainer which will be part of our Professional Development opportunities at RESA4U.

Nikki Vradenburg

Nikki Vradenburg is about to embark on her 13th year in the classroom. She teaches Kindergarten and First grade at LaMotte School in Bozeman, MT and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Montana State University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.  Nikki has conducted workshops in the area of Gifted Education and Technology Integration for RESA4U/Southwest Montana Services since spring of 2010. She is a parent discussion group facilitator for SENG (Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted) and has presented at the AGATE (Association for Gifted and Talented Education) conference. In May of 2013 Nikki completed the process to become a National Board Certified Teacher and is waiting for the release of her scores in November.
